
Concrete Structural Engineer with a focus on Finite Element Modeling
Fiber Elements GmbH was founded in 2023 in the start-up center of the Montanuniversität Leoben and focuses on the development and production of non-metallic reinforcement systems in construction. The company primarily works with the mineral material basalt, which is processed into complex three-dimensional reinforcement systems using so-called rovings (fiber bundles) on automated production lines, and is used in a variety of precast concrete elements. In addition to the textile reinforcement systems, another key focus is on the development and digital control of fully automated production lines, which can also be operated at customer sites. Fiber Elements is a dynamic and rapidly growing start-up with reputable investors, renowned research partners, and promising customers. The company is expanding its team of 12 employees and filling key positions in the organization to support the upcoming growth.
We are seeking a highly experienced concrete structural engineer with a focus on Finite Element Modeling to join the start-up team of Fiber Elements GmbH in Leoben/Austria
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to drive the application of basalt fiber materials in infrastructure.
- Lead the development and application of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for basalt fiber-reinforced concrete structures
- Execute and manage major structural simulation projects
- Standardize FEA processes and integrate Building Information Modeling (BIM) for early-stage design optimization
- Oversee digital workflow improvements and lead research initiatives
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in Vienna and Leoben
- Take on team leadership responsibilities in the medium term
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Civil Engineering
- 5+ years of practical experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural applications
- Proficiency with tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, and CAD
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools
- Knowledge of AI-driven design optimization
- Strong understanding of Eurocode and national building standards
- Proven experience in leading technical teams
- Fluent in German, confident in English
