
Key Account Manager / Business Developer for Hungary (retail)
Our client is a successful Central European publishing and EdTech company, recognized for delivering top-tier educational products and learning toys. With a growing presence in Hungary and superb future potential, they are now ready for a major retail expansion. We are seeking an ambitious, high-energy Business Developer who is ready to step up, take ownership, and spearhead further growth into major retail chains.
This is not just a sales job - it’s a market-building mission. Your goal is twofold: to proactively open new doors within major Hungarian and international retail chains (hypermarkets, bookstores, toy retailers, institutional networking), while simultaneously deepening and expanding existing business relationships to ensure sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively secure and manage listings in key retail networks
- Drive the sales cycle directly with Category Managers at retail headquarters
- Take a "hands-on" approach to building the retail branch from the ground up
- Prove your results and grow into a leadership role, eventually building and managing your own sales team
- Monitor the market and help adapt our portfolio to stay ahead of the competition
Who Are We Looking For?
- You have a solid foundation in sales (5+ years) and experience dealing with retail chains or distributors in Hungary
- You come from FMCG, Toys, Books, Magazines, or any consumer goods segment sold in retail
- You are a self-starter with high energy, resilience, and a hunger for success
- You have established initial contacts with Hungarian retail buyers or a strong ability to build them quickly
- Native Hungarian and good professional English (B2)
- High level of flexibility regarding travel is important - you must have the ability to effectively cover and visit key decision-makers, primarily in Budapest and the Central Hungary region
- You prefer autonomy and a fast-paced environment over rigid corporate structures
