Senior Database Engineer

The role

We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join the R&D team in Vienna and take technical responsibility for highly available and scalable database platforms.

You will work at the intersection of database engineering and modern cloud-native technologies, contributing to the design, operation and continuous improvement of critical platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, operate and optimize highly available MariaDB/MySQL environments.
• Work with database clustering, replication and high-availability solutions such as Galera Cluster.
• Support cloud-native database platforms running on Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Ensure platform reliability through monitoring, automation, performance optimization and proactive maintenance.
• Contribute to backup, recovery and disaster recovery strategies.
• Support technical solution design and customer deployments.

Key requirements

• Strong professional experience with MariaDB and/or MySQL.
• Solid knowledge of database clustering, replication and High Availability; experience with Galera Cluster is highly valued.
• Experience with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift and cloud-native environments.
• Good knowledge of Linux.
• Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting and performance optimization in production environments.
• A structured and reliable approach to working with critical systems.
• Experience with technologies such as HAProxy, Helm, Operators or GitOps/ArgoCD is a plus.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB is advantageous.
